Want to learn how you can create a nice and useful OneNote meeting like this that you can use for yourself or your team? Today, I’m going to show you step by step how to create your own OneNote meeting template that you can use for your team. In fact, the process I’m going to show you can be applied to create any OneNote template, such as calendar, planner, journal, or other types of templates to make your work easy and effective. Let’s jump right into my computer, and I’ll show you how to create a useful OneNote template.
Step number one: go to canva.com. If you don’t have an account, just create a free one. Once done, you want to create a design. Choose an A4 document size so you can print it if needed, then create your template. Go to the design tab, and search for “meeting minutes” or “meeting notes.” You’ll see plenty of free and premium options. Choose one that suits you, customize it by changing the date or logo, and adjust the colors to match your company’s brand. Once finished, click “Share” and download as a JPG or PNG file.
Now that you’ve downloaded your design, let’s go to OneNote. Inside OneNote, you can create a notebook, which can be shared with your team in Microsoft Teams, allowing everyone to access the meeting minutes. Once you’ve opened OneNote, create a blank page, give it a name (e.g., “Meeting Minutes Template”), and insert the image you downloaded from Canva. Adjust the image to fit your page, then right-click the image and select “Set Picture as Background” so you can type on top of it.
After setting the image as a background, you can type directly onto the template. For example, add the date or meeting minutes by simply clicking and typing. If you have a tablet or touchscreen, you can even write directly on the page, making it interactive and more personal. For those using a stylus, you can convert handwriting into text by selecting it and using the “Ink to Text” feature. If you prefer typing, you can just enter the information directly into the template.
To save this as a template, go to the “Insert” tab, click “Page Template,” and save the current page as a template. Name it something like “Meeting Minutes Template 1,” and save. You can also set it as a default template for this notebook, so every time you add a new page, it will automatically use this template. If you don’t want it as the default, just save it for manual use. Later, when you want to add the template to a new page, go to “Insert,” select “Page Template,” and choose the saved template from “My Templates.”
You can create multiple templates for different purposes and insert them as needed. If your team is using Microsoft Teams, everyone will have access to the shared notebook, making it easy to use the template for meeting minutes or other notes. Let me know if you have any questions about creating your own OneNote templates in the comments.
