* Understanding financial reports through hands-on exercise :

- Ratio analysis : profitability and liquidity ? including current ratio and acid test ratio.

Day #2
* Putting all you learnt into practice by running a profitable business in a highly competitive market – business simulation game.
Business Simulation Game
This is a computer simulated business exercise for up to four teams, where they are involved in running a small business for up to six quarters, and all 4 of the teams are competing within the same market. This exercise allows teams to experience / test their business acumen in a highly competitive market, and help them to focus on organizing themselves to work effectively as a team to make good business decisions. In short, this simulation brings out some key points about running a profitable business in a highly competitive market. Other key learning areas :
* Analyzing business data

* Making a range of business decisions

* Forecasting demand
* Presentation skills
The exercise calls for the team to tender for a site for their shop, and then they have to decide on their business strategy, as well as on-going decisions on such things as advertising, staff wages, the product range and prices. These decisions have to be submitted at the end of each of 6 ?quarters? on pre-printed decision forms. Because the exercise is computer simulated and interactive, decisions need to be constantly reviewed to take account of the competition and other market influences ? just like the real world of business.
Furthermore, the team has a chance to polish their business presentation skills in making their business case to a ‘venture capitalist’ in attracting additional investment.
This simulation manages to combine a serious learning in a format that is great fun and thoroughly enjoyable. It is suitable for any level of employees.
